Congratulations to Mr Randolph Meth, a final year BCom Financial Planning student in our Department, who has won the ‘Existing Business – Tech’ category in the regional round of the EDHE Entrepreneurship Intervarsity 2021 Awards.

The purpose of the EDHE Entrepreneurship Intervarsity is to identify top student entrepreneurs at South African public universities, recognise and showcase their businesses, and invite investment into this cohort of student businesses. The competition also provides an opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs in the ideation phase to pitch their innovative business ideas. In the process, universities have the opportunity to showcase their entrepreneurial talent and demonstrate ways in which they can support and grow the next generation of business leaders.

Randolph took the honours in this category with his innovative business called Silicon Energy Technology, which he started in October 2019. The company focuses on renewable energy, with its core business operations involving the manufacturing, distribution, and installation of renewable energy equipment. In addition, Silicon Energy also offers solar system installation services for households and various other entities.

Randolph will take part in the national finals in Johannesburg in mid-November.
