Nelson Mandela University’s Department of Business Management hosted well-known South African patent attorney, Erik van der Vyver, in an online guest lecture for their Entrepreneurship Honours students. Mr van der Vyver is a senior partner at Von Seidels and currently heads up their patent division. Von Seidels is an intellectual property law firm specialising in protecting and enforcing intellectual property (IP) rights throughout Africa. Mr van der Vyver’s lecture was practical and insightful, and covered various aspects relating to patents, registered designs, trademarks, copyright and trade secrets. The importance of protecting ones IP for entrepreneurs was once again highlighted.
